Fire officials said a tire detached from a semi-truck, crossed into oncoming lanes and hit the windshield of a minivan causing significant damage to the car.

Vancouver, WA. – A driver was killed after a semi-truck accident on Thursday morning in Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.
The accident occurred at about 7:40 a.m. on May 14 on the northbound side of I-5 just north of Mill Plain Boulevard.
Fire officials said a tire detached from a semi-truck, crossed into oncoming lanes and hit the windshield of a minivan causing significant damage to the car.
The minivan driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Traffic delays were experienced in the area as emergency teams worked on the scene. The delays did not last for longer and traffic is now moving normally.
An investigation is underway.
