Police said the deputy’s patrol vehicle was parked facing southbound with emergency lights on when a northbound full-size pickup pulling an animal trailer crashed into it.

Green Valley, IL. – A Tazewell County deputy was injured after a traffic crash early Thursday morning in the rural Green Valley.

According to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at about 5:40 a.m. on September 25, on Illinois Route 29.

Police said the deputy’s patrol vehicle was parked facing southbound with emergency lights on when a northbound full-size pickup pulling an animal trailer crashed into it.

The deputy was injured and was taken to Carle Health-Pekin for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The pickup driver and the animals were not injured.

An investigation by the Illinois State Police is ongoing.
