Waldport, OR – A man was killed on Monday in a single-car accident, outside of Waldport, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal accident happened around 8:30 p.m., May 26, on the U.S. Forest Service 53 Road.

Deputies said a vehicle went over an embankment.

The driver, Calvin Moreschini, 45, of Waldport, and his passenger, 45-year-old David Vargues, of Waldport, were taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital where Vargues died.

Moreschini was impaired by alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the second degree, reckless driving, and DUII. He was being held at the Lincoln County Jail.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
