It is unknown why the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the collision

Coos County, OR. – One person was killed in a car crash involving a pedestrian in Coos County on Monday evening, according to the Oregon State Police.
The fatal accident happened near milepost 20 on Highway 42 at around 5:19 p.m. on December 22.
Investigators said a white Ford Ranger, driven by a Coos Bay woman, was traveling eastbound on the highway when it struck a Myrtle Point woman who was standing in the travel lane.
It is unknown why the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the collision.
The woman was killed in the accident.
