Deputies said a three and half year-old boy was run over by an industrial-style lawnmower seriously injuring his leg.

Cary, IL. – A child was critically hurt after being run over by a lawnmower on Saturday afternoon in unincorporated Cary, Illinois, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened at about 12:41 p.m. on August 30 in the 28700 block of Kristy Lane.
Deputies said a three and half year-old boy was run over by an industrial-style lawnmower seriously injuring his leg. It was reported that the boy either jumped or fell off while the operator was backing and the mower then rolled over the child’s leg.
A neighbor applied a makeshift tourniquet to help control the bleeding before the emergency crew arrived.
Upon arrival, paramedics applied more lifesaving treatment and rushed the boy to Mercy health hospital by ground ambulance. The boy was then flown to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois in a critical condition.
Deputies said the boy is hospitalized at an unspecified ICU in Chicago and he is stable.
An investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
