Police said a marked CPD squad vehicle which had its emergency lights on was traveling southbound on Wabash when it collided with an SUV travelling westbound on 76th Street. The CPD vehicle ended up slamming into the front gate of a house.

Chicago, IL. – A Chicago police officer was injured following a traffic collision on Thanksgiving Day in Chicago, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The accident occurred on November 27 near 76th Street and Wabash Avenue.

Police said a marked CPD squad vehicle which had its emergency lights on was traveling southbound on Wabash when it collided with an SUV travelling westbound on 76th Street. The CPD vehicle ended up slamming into the front gate of a house.

The officer suffered an injury to the left shoulder and was expected to be okay.

The man operating the SUV was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital and was listed in a stable condition.

No one was cited in connection with the crash.
