Las Vegas, NV. – A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a car as he rode an electric scooter in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 10:22 a.m. at the intersection of Cliff Shadows Parkway and Hickam Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Two children were riding an electric scooter eastbound on Hickam Avenue when they entered the path of a 2023 Kia Sportage traveling southbound on Cliff Shadows Parkway and were struck.

Both children were ejected from the e-scooter.

A 9-year-old boy was transported to UMC Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while an 11-year-old girl was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver of the Kia, 77-year-old Teresa Williams, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
