Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on South Kedzie Avenue on Chicago’s Southwest Side

Police said a red SUV sped through a red light at the intersection and hit the man riding a bicycle.

Chicago, IL. – A man, 18, was killed after a hit-and-run bicycle accident early Sunday morning on Chicago’s Southwest Side in Chicago, according to the Chicago’s Police Department.

The accident occurred at 1:20 a.m. on April 5 in the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

Police said a red SUV sped through a red light at the intersection and hit the man riding a bicycle. He was declared dead at the crash site.

The SUV then struck a silver car headed south with the green light on Kedzie Avenue through the intersection with 63rd Street.

A 22-year-old woman, a passenger in the red SUV, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in a critical condition.

A 60-year-old woman from the silver vehicle was treated at the crash site. 

The red SUV driver fled the scene on foot after the accident.

No other information regarding this crash was provided.

An investigation is underway.
