Authorities said Atkins was on ATV with his dog on an ATV and was trying to cross the railroad tracks when it stuck.

Hancock County, IL.- 42-year-old Aaron R. Atkins of Plymouth and his dog were killed after an Amtrak train crash with an ATV in western Illinois, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred a while before 6:18 p.m. May 26, north of Plymouth.
Authorities said Atkins was on ATV with his dog and was trying to cross the railroad tracks when it stuck. Atkins tried to free the ATV and was struck by a northbound Amtrak train.
Atkin and his dog were hit by the Amtrak train and were declared dead at the crash site.
No additional information regarding this crash was provided.
