72-Year-Old Man Dies After Car Accident on U.S. 27 and Ruby Red Boulevard in in Lake County

Lake County, FL. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 72-year-old man was killed after a traffic crash on Thursday evening in Lake County.

The deadly collision happened at about 5:30 p.m. November 27 on U.S. 27, south of Ruby Red Boulevard

Authorities said a 72-year-old man from Winter Haven was heading southbound in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway to the right and crashed into an electrical box and into a ditch. 

Emergency crews took the driver to the hospital where he was declared dead.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

Officials suspected the man may have suffered a medical episode before the crash.

An investigation is underway.
