Deputies found the 59-year-old man was hit by a car for unknown reasons.
Trenton, IL. – A 59-year-old man was killed after a pedestrian accident on Tuesday night in rural Trenton, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened at 11:51 p.m. on May 19, in the 200 block of Wesclin Road.
Deputies said a 59-year-old man was hit by a car for unknown reasons.
Responding emergency crews found the man with head and chest injuries. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The man was a member of the New Baden Police Department and was off duty at the time of the crash.
An investigation is underway.
