4 Students, Truck Driver Injured After Semi Hits School Bus on US 301 in Alachua County

Troopers confirmed the semi was traveling north on US 301 when the driver did not stop in time and crashed into the back of a school bus stopped at Northeast 22nd Lane to pick up students. The semi struck the bus with its passenger side before it lost control and rolled over on the highway.

Alachua County, FL. – Four students, a 10-year-old boy and three teens were injured after a semi-truck versus school bus collision on Monday morning in Alachua County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on March 9, on US-301 at Northeast 22nd Lane.

Troopers confirmed the semi was traveling north on US 301 when the driver did not stop in time and crashed into the back of a school bus stopped at Northeast 22nd Lane to pick up students. The semi struck the bus with its passenger side before it lost control and rolled over on the highway.

Four students, a 10-year-old boy, three teenage girls ages 14,14 and 16 sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized.

The 27-year-old semi driver sustained severe injuries while his 64-year-old passenger was not injured.

All the persons involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash

An investigation is underway.
