Police said the man was helping a coworker move an approximately 800-pound stone slab when it slipped and trapped him between another piece of stone.

Rockford, IL. – A 38-year-old Rockford man was killed after a workplace accident on Thursday afternoon in Rockford, according to the Rockford Police Department.
The accident happened at around 1:00 p.m. October 2 at 2602 17th Street.
Police said the man was helping a coworker move an approximately 800-pound stone slab when it slipped and trapped him between another piece of stone.
The man was declared dead at the crash site.
An investigation by the Rockford Police Department and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office is ongoing.
