3 Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on I-4 near Debary in Volusia County

Troopers said a 2025 Dodge Durango was traveling in the center lane when it tried to move into the inside lane and crashed into a 2013 Ford Focus. The impact caused a chain reaction collision involving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2020 Honda Pilot.

3 Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash on I-4 near Mile Marker 108 in Volusia County

Volusia County, FL. – Three persons were killed after a multi-vehicle collision on Saturday evening in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The accident happened on Interstate 4 eastbound near Mile Marker 108 on October 4.

Troopers said a 2025 Dodge Durango was traveling in the center lane when it tried to move into the inside lane and crashed into a 2013 Ford Focus. The impact caused a chain reaction collision involving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2020 Honda Pilot. 

The Ford Focus veered off the road and hit a guardrail before reentering traffic and colliding with the Honda Pilot. During the sequence, the motorcyclist was also struck.

Troopers said three persons, the 54-year-old motorcyclist from Deltona, the driver of the Honda Pilot and a passenger in the Pilot were declared dead at the crash site.

The Ford Focus driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital.

The Dodge Durango driver fled the scene after the crash. The vehicle was later found unoccupied in Flagler County parking lot with damage consistent with the crash. The vehicle was taken into evidence by investigators and the case is being treated as a criminal investigation.

An investigation is underway.
