Troopers said a 2023 Honda CR-V was heading eastbound on SR-40 when it crossed into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2021 Ford Expedition.
Volusia County, FL. – Three people were killed after a head-on collision on Monday morning in De Leon Springs in Volusia County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on May 4, on State Road 40 near Lake Winona Road.
Troopers said a 2023 Honda CR-V was heading eastbound on SR-40 when it crossed into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2021 Ford Expedition.
Three people in the Honda were declared dead at the crash site.
The four persons in the Ford were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Police closed SR-40 in both directions and drivers were asked to avoid the area.
