Police said a semi-truck was heading south on SR-31 while a truck was heading north. For unknown reasons, the semi entered the truck’s pathway and the two crashed head-on.

Charlotte County, FL. – Three persons were hurt following a major semi-truck accident on Friday morning in Charlotte County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened a while before 4:39 a.m. July 25, on SR-31 near Bermont Road and Farabee Road.
Police said a semi-truck was heading south on SR-31 while a truck was heading north. For unknown reasons, the semi entered the truck’s pathway and the two crashed head-on.
The truck driver, a 23-year-old man from Lakeland and their passenger, a 22-year-old from Auburndale sustained severe injuries. The two patients were airlifted to the Trauma Center at Gulf Coast Medical Center by Bayflight and Aeromed.
The semi driver sustained minor injuries due to the collision.
SR 31 was blocked in both directions between Bermont Road and Farabee Road following the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
