Gage Park, IL – Three people, including two Chicago police officers, were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in the Gage Park neighborhood, according to the police.
The collision happened around 4:31 a.m. on July 23, 2025, in the 5100 block of South California Avenue at the intersection of 51st Street.
Police said a 51-year-old man driving northbound on California Avenue when he ran a red light at the intersection and struck a marked squad car that was traveling westbound on 51st Street.
Two police officers in the squad car were taken to the hospital in good condition.
The man fled the scene but was taken into custody and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition. He was issued four citations.
The police are investigating the accident.
