Deputies said the bus was headed north on Rink Road when it veered off the roadway and slammed into an electrical box.

Freeport, IL. – Three children, two adults were hospitalized after a YMCA bus crashed on Thursday morning in Freeport, Stephenson County, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened a while after 10:00 a.m. on July 24, on Rink Road between W. Stephenson Street and Pearl City Road.
Deputies said the bus was headed north on Rink Road when it veered off the roadway and slammed into an electrical box.
Three children and two adults riding in the bus were transported to FHN Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver sustained severe non-life threatening injuries while the other four patients were treated for minor injuries.
There were 22 people in the bus at the time of the crash. The bus was carrying fourth through eighth graders with adults for a field trip when the accident happened.
Officials closed Rink Road for about five hours as they worked on the scene between W. Stephenson Street and Pearl City Road.
An investigation is ongoing.
