2 Teens Killed, 18-Year-Old Jason K. Charged After Crash at Richmond Road/IL Route 31 in McHenry County

Police said a red 2006 Audi A4 was heading southbound when it crashed into a black 2015 Nissan Sentra. The vehicles also slammed into a parked unoccupied Toyota Echo.

Mc Henry, IL. –  A 19-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy were killed while 18-year-old Jason K. Land of Fox River Grove was charged with DUI after a multi-vehicle accident early Monday morning in McHenry County.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at around 12:30 a.m. July 28 at Richmond Road/IL Route 31 and McCullom Lake Road.

Police said a red 2006 Audi A4 was heading southbound when it crashed into a black 2015 Nissan Sentra. The vehicles also slammed into a parked unoccupied Toyota Echo.

The Nissan Sentra overturned and destroyed a communications box. The red Audi was also heavily damaged, and the car’s hood was torn open. 

The Nissan driver, 19-year-old woman, and her 14-year-old brother were killed in the collision.

Land, the Audi driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to North Western Medicine McHenry Hospital for treatment.

He was charged with felony driving under the influence of alcohol causing death and misdemeanor DUI.
