2 Pedestrians Killed, Man Arrested After Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on 73rd Street and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach

Police said a 42-year-old man was driving a black Nissan Sentra recklessly at the intersection of 71st Street and Collins Avenue. He continued driving and he hit two pedestrians at the intersection of 73rd Street and Collins Avenue.

Miami Beach, FL. – Two pedestrians were killed after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Wednesday night in Miami Beach, according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

The collision happened a while after 9:00 p.m. on March 18 at the intersection of 73rd Street and Collins Avenue.

Police said a 42-year-old man was driving a black Nissan Sentra recklessly at the intersection of 71st Street and Collins Avenue. He continued driving and he hit two pedestrians at the intersection of 73rd Street and Collins Avenue. He fled the scene and stopped at the intersection of 74th Street and Collins Avenue before fleeing on foot into a nearby Walgreens.

The two pedestrians, a student and a former student at Indiana University were rushed to an area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The hit-and-run driver was found and taken to the hospital. He was later arrested for vehicular manslaughter and other charges including DUI and hit-and-run. He was booked into jail.
