Troopers said a Toyota Camry sedan and a Nissan Pathfinder SUV were traveling north on I-75 when the sedan struck the Nissan causing the SUV to swerve off the roadway and slam into a tree.

Sarasota, FL. – Two people were killed after a traffic collision on Sunday afternoon in Sarasota, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at about 3:39 p.m. on December 14, on I-75 near mile marker 203.

Troopers said a Toyota Camry sedan and a Nissan Pathfinder SUV were traveling north on I-75 when the sedan struck the Nissan causing the SUV to swerve off the roadway and slam into a tree.

The SUV occupants, a man and a woman, were declared dead at the crash site.

The sedan driver, a 41-year-old man of Ohio, was arrested after the crash for DUI manslaughter. He was booked into the Sarasota County Jail.
