Authorities said a 51-year-old man from Stoughton, Wisconsin was driving a 2009 Acura sedan eastbound on Route 173. He couldn’t stay in his lane and drove into the path of a westbound Freightliner semi-truck and the two vehicles crashed head-on. A Honda minivan heading eastbound then slammed into the Acura.

Wadsworth, IL. – Two people were killed following a head-on collision on Thursday morning in Wadsworth, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at about 7:50 p.m. on February 26, on Route 173, west of North Kilbourne Road.
Authorities said a 51-year-old man from Stoughton, Wisconsin was driving a 2009 Acura sedan eastbound on Route 173. He couldn’t stay in his lane and drove into the path of a westbound Freightliner semi-truck and the two vehicles crashed head-on. A Honda minivan heading eastbound then slammed into the Acura.
The Acura driver and a front passenger, 45-year-old woman from Stoughton, Wisconsin were killed in the collision.
The minivan driver was rushed to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The semi-truck driver was not injured in the collision.
The semi was ferrying about 35,000 pounds of cargo at the time.
The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is underway.
