Deputies said a southbound car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a northbound vehicle.

Mercer County, IL. – Two persons were killed after a head-on collision on Wednesday in Mercer County, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred on July 23, on U.S. 67 near Preemption.
Deputies said a southbound car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a northbound vehicle.
The two motorists were killed in the collision. Their names were not released awaiting notification of family.
The Matherville Fire Department, Advanced Medical Transport, Illinois State Police, Sherrard Fire Department, and the Mercer County Coroner assisted at the crash site.
An investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police is underway.
