Police said a wrong-way car and another vehicle crashed.
Springfield, IL. – Two people were killed after a deadly crash on Monday morning in Springfield, according to the Illinois State Police.
The fatal accident occurred at 1:02 a.m. on southbound Interstate 55 near the East Lake Shore Drive exit.

The drivers of the two cars were declared dead at the crash site.
A passenger in one of the cars was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The roadway was closed and re-opened at about 6:00 a.m. following the collision
