2 Die After Multi-Vehicle Accident on Kathleen Road in Lakeland

Lakeland, FL. – Two people were killed and three others were injured following a four-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred at 5:47 p.m. on November 29, on Kathleen Road.

Authorities said a Nissan was heading along a bend on Kathleen Road and failed to negotiate the curve and swerved over the grass median, launching the car in the air.

The Nissan struck the front of a Kia Vehicle and hit a Dodge truck, continued driving west and crashed head-on into an Audi SUV. The 23-year-old female Nissan driver and a 79-year-old female passenger in the Audi were killed in the crash.

The Kia driver, a 48-year-old woman, was hospitalized with non-threatening injuries. The Kia passengers were not hurt in the accident.

The Audi driver, a 53-year-old man, was not hurt in the collision. His son, a 25-year-old man of Zalner was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second passenger in the Audi was hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Authorities believe the Nissan was travelling at a high rate of speed at the time.

Kathleen Road was closed down for around six hours on Saturday night.
