2 Killed, 1 Injured in Albany Car Crash on Highway 226

Albany, OR – Two people were killed and another was seriously injured following a two-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 226 near Albany Monday morning.

The crash happened on Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:47 a.m. on Highway 226 near milepost 1.5, the Oregon State Police said.

According to OSP, a red Buick Envoy was heading eastbound on Highway 226 when the driver attempted to turn north onto Old Bridge Drive.

The Buick turned into the path of a westbound blue Kenworth commercial motor vehicle, operated by Douglas Edward Ahlberg, a 49-year-old resident of Aumsville, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The Buick driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger of the Buick was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger on the rear seat of the Buick was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.

The highway was shut down for about four hours as crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
