2 Children Severely Injured in Crash on Tampa Road in Oldsmar

Deputies said a 27-year-old woman was heading eastbound on Tampa Road in a 2015 Nissan Altima when she drove towards the intersection of St. Petersburg Drive operated by a 52-year-old operating a 2021 Tesla Model 3. The Tesla was facing westbound in the turn lane on Tampa Road heading south onto St. Petersburg Drive.

2 Children Sustains Severe Injuries After Car Crash on Tampa Road

Oldsmar, FL. – Four people including a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old were injured after a traffic collision on Thursday afternoon in Oldsmar.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. on April 30, on Tampa Road.

Deputies said a 27-year-old woman was heading eastbound on Tampa Road in a 2015 Nissan Altima when she drove towards the intersection of St. Petersburg Drive operated by a 52-year-old operating a 2021 Tesla Model 3. The Tesla was facing westbound in the turn lane on Tampa Road heading south onto St. Petersburg Drive.

The two cars entered the junction at the same time and collided.

The two drivers sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized.

Two children were riding in the Altima. The 6-year-old girl sustained critical injuries while the 4-year-old boy sustained severe injuries. The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Deputies suspect speed played a role in the collision.

The incident remains under investigation.
