New Lenox, IL. – A 10-year-old boy was struck and injured by a Metra train on Monday evening in New Lenox, according to Metra Police.
The accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on September 15 on Cedar Road, just before reaching the New Lenox station.
Police said the boy was riding a bicycle on Cedar Road when he was struck by an inbound Rock Island train. The boy was rushed to Silver Cross Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Inbound and outbound services are running again but are experiencing long delays.
An investigation is ongoing.
