Pope County, IL. – One person was killed after a traffic collision on Friday night in Pope County, according to the Illinois State Police.
The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on January 2, on IL-145 near Bay Valley Road.
Police said a passenger vehicle left the road for unknown reasons and slammed into a utility pole.
The driver was killed in the collision.
Police closed the northbound lane of IL-145 for several hours and it was reopened early Saturday morning.
