Polk County, OR – A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a commercial motor vehicle on Highway 18 in Polk County Sunday night.

The deadly crash happened on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 7:07 p.m. on Highway 18, near milepost 27.

Investigators said a 19-year-old Salem man was driving a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer eastbound on Highway 18 when he turned left into a gravel lot coming directly into the path of a westbound Kawasaki ZX-18 motorcycle driven by a 50-year-old Grand Ronde man.

The motorcycle crashed into the side of the Freightliner.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freightliner driver was not injured

The highway was closed for about three hours as crews worked at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
