Lane County, OR. – One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision on Friday afternoon in Lane County, according to the Oregon State Police.
The fatal collision happened around 3:15 p.m. on November 7, on State Route 569 (Beltline Highway)
Police said a 52-year-old Eugene man was driving a Honda Accord westbound when he braked suddenly and was rear-ended by a westbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 52-year-old Elmira man.
The impact of the collision pushed the Chevrolet into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an eastbound Dodge Stratus driven by an 84-year-old Eugene man.
The Dodge driver was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger in the Dodge was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Chevrolet driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Honda driver was uninjured in the accident.
Police are investigating the accident.
