The pedestrian, a 43-year-old Rogue River man, died at the scene

Jackson County, OR. – A pedestrian was killed, and another person suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Jackson County on Sunday evening, according to Oregon State Police.
The fatal accident occurred on Highway 99 (Rogue River Highway) near milepost 7 at around 6:13 p.m.
Investigators reported that a southbound Hyundai Elantra struck a pedestrian who was pushing a go-kart along the highway.
The Hyundai continued southbound and fled the scene before the operator later contacted authorities to report involvement.
The pedestrian, a 43-year-old Rogue River man, died at the scene.
An occupant of the go-kart, a 41-year-old Grants Pass man, sustained minor injuries.
The 28-year-old Grants Pass woman driving the Hyundai and a passenger, both from Grants Pass, were uninjured.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Manslaughter in the First Degree.
The incident remains under active investigation.
