Police confirmed a 24-year-old man was heading westbound on Highway 34 near Waldport in a maroon Chrysler Sebring when he lost control of the car and slammed into several trees on the westbound embankment.

Lincoln County, OR. – One person was killed after a traffic collision on Thursday night near Waldport in Lincoln.

According to the Oregon State Police, the accident happened at 7:41 p.m. on April 2, on Highway 34 near milepost 3.

Police confirmed a 24-year-old man was heading westbound on Highway 34 near Waldport in a maroon Chrysler Sebring when he lost control of the car and slammed into several trees on the westbound embankment.

The passenger, a 51-year-old Portland man, was declared dead at the crash site.

The 24-year-old man was flown to a local hospital with severe injuries.

Police believed speed and impairment played a role in the collision.

Traffic was delayed in the area for around eight hours.

The Oregon Department of Transportation, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Central Coast Fire and Rescue assisted the OSP at the scene.
