Mesa, AZ. – One person was killed, eight people hurt following a traffic collision on Sunday morning in Mesa, according to the Mesa Police Department.
The accident occurred on May 24 near State Route 24 and Signal Butte Road.
Police said two vehicles crashed for unknown reasons. One of the cars, a van, had 10 occupants at the time. One person was declared dead at the crash site.
Eight people were taken to the hospital.
The roadway was blocked following the crash. The eastbound lanes of SR-24 were opened at around 1:45 p.m. and the other lanes were expected to be reopened in the next couple of hours.
