1 Dies After Nevada Car Accident on Highway 50

Carson City, NV. – One person was killed, four others were injured following a two-vehicle collision on Sunday afternoon in Carson City, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. on westbound Highway 50.

Police said a Honda utility car was heading westbound on US-50 at a high rate of speed when it failed to safely negotiate a curve and hit a Volvo before running off the right shoulder of US-50. The Honda then rolled over and threw two persons after the crash.

An adult female was declared dead by medics as she was taken to an area hospital.

Four other persons, 2 adult males, a juvenile male and one adult female were taken to an area hospital with injuries. Two were flown and two transported by ground ambulance.

The Volvo driver and their passenger were not hurt in the crash.

Police said impairment and speed played a role in the collision.

Authorities confirmed the number two westbound travel lane has reopened after being closed after the crash.

An investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol, region two Traffic Homicide Unit is ongoing.
