Miami-Dade, FL – A man was killed and two others were seriously injured early Monday morning in a wrong-way collision in Miami-Dade, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision happened around 1:00 a.m. on July 14 on the Palmetto Expressway near Okeechobee Road.

FHP said a white Mercedes SUV was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of the highway when it collided with a white Dodge SUV.

The Mercedes overturned after the collision.

The front seat passenger in the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Both drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The collision closed Palmetto Expressway for about five hours.

The FHP is investigating the collision.
