Collinsville, IL. – One person was killed after a semi-truck accident early Sunday morning in Collinsville, according to the Illinois State Police.
The collision happened at around 3:01 a.m. on October 5, on I-55 near Milepost 8.
Police said a pickup truck and a semi-truck crashed for reasons yet to be determined. The two vehicles burst into flames after the accident.
The driver of the pickup truck was declared dead at the crash site.
The semi-truck driver was transported to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.
Police closed the northbound lanes of I-55 until around 10:26 a.m.
No further details regarding the crash have been provided.
