The fatal crash happened at about 12:50 a.m. on the westbound Loop 202 – Red Mountain Freeway near Gilbert Road.
Mesa, AZ – A wrong-way driver was killed and another motorist was seriously injured in a two-car collision in Mesa early Monday.
The fatal crash happened at about 12:50 a.m. on the westbound Loop 202 – Red Mountain Freeway near Gilbert Road.
According to DPS, the motorist traveling the wrong way died in the crash. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
The other motorist suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
The freeway was closed following the crash and was reopened at about 6 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation and no additional details are available.
