Putnam County, IN. – One person was airlifted after being injured in a collision on Sunday morning near Putnamville in Putnam County.

According to the Reelsville/Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the accident happened around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 40 and 800 West.

Two vehicles were involved in the wreck. The impact of the collision sent both vehicles down an embankment.

Firefighters had to extricate one person who was trapped in one of the cars before they were flown to hospital for treatment.

Both drivers were treated at the scene and released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
