
Chemung, New York — September 28, 2025: Authorities report that Nathan J. Novakowski, age 18, was shot and killed by the New York State Police at a residence in the 170 block of Rotary Road (listed as 176 Rotary Road in reports).
According to initial statements, troopers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they allegedly found Novakowski threatening a woman with a pair of scissors. Police say Novakowski refused commands and became increasingly agitated, allegedly attempting to stab the woman. Troopers then opened fire, fatally striking him.
