Motorcyclist Dies in Albuquerque Crash with Ambulance

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the deadly incident happened at about at around 2:30 p.m. on January near the intersection of Juan Tabo Boulevard and Central Avenue.

Albuquerque, N.M. — One person was killed after an ambulance and a motorcycle collided near an intersection in Albuquerque Saturday afternoon.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the deadly incident happened at about at around 2:30 p.m. on January near the intersection of Juan Tabo Boulevard and Central Avenue.

Police said an Albuquerque Ambulance was heading southbound on Juan Tabo Boulevard with its lights and sirens activated. As the ambulance started crossing the intersection, a motorcycle rider also entered the intersection traveling eastbound on Central Avenue, and crashed into the passenger side door of the ambulance.

The motorcyclist was transported to UNM Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The identity of the victim remains under wraps pending notification of the next of kin.

The ambulance driver remained at the scene and told investigators he did not see the rider as he entered the intersection.

An investigation into the incident is underway
