An INDOT Hoosier Helper stopped to assist a motorist with a flat tire when the patrol unit was rear-ended by a red Ford pickup truck operated by Garrett

Gary, IN. – 30-year-old Keristin Garrett was killed in a collision involving an Indiana Department of Transportation truck on Friday morning in Gary.
According to Indiana State Police, the accident happened on I-80/94 at the 7.7-mile marker. At around 7 a.m. on February 28.
An INDOT Hoosier Helper stopped to assist a motorist with a flat tire when the patrol unit was rear-ended by a red Ford pickup truck operated by Garrett, of Gary, IN.
Troopers attempted to render first aid to the pickup truck driver.
Sadly, Garrett succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The Hoosier Helper and the motorist with the flat tire did not sustain serious injuries.
