Jacob Chalmers Killed, Jordyn Alveus Critically Injured in Motorcycle Crash with Boynton Beach Fire Truck

Jacob Chalmers, who was operating a Vitacci XMT 250 sport bike, died after colliding with a Boynton Beach Fire Rescue firetruck, the sheriff’s office said.

Palm Beach County, FL – One person was killed and another was critically injured after a motorcycle collided with a Boynton Beach fire truck that had its siren and emergency lights on, on South Congress Avenue Saturday night, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The deadly motorcycle collision happened in the 1320 block of South Congress Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. on February 15.

Deputies said a Boynton Beach fire truck was traveling northbound on South Congress Avenue and trying to make a left turn. A Vitacci XMT 250 sport bike, operated by Jacob M. Chalmers, 18, of Boynton Beach, was heading southbound on South Congress when the fire engine turned into the motorcycle’s path, and the motorcycle crashed into the fire truck’s rear passenger side.

Jacob Chalmers was not wearing a helmet and was killed in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

His passenger, Jordyn Alveus, of Belle Glade, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alveus was critically injured and taken to Delray Beach Medical Center.

No additional information was provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
