Elijah Wilks Fatally Shot by Off Duty Officer in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wisconsin — October 9, 2025: Authorities identified Elijah Wilks, age 26, as the man shot and killed by an off-duty officer with the Milwaukee Police Department following a confrontation near W Mill Road and N 47th Street after a minor vehicle crash.

According to initial reports, an off-duty officer driving a personal vehicle was involved in a minor collision with Wilks. Investigators say Wilks exited his vehicle, allegedly produced a handgun, and argued with the officer before striking the officer in the face with the weapon. The off-duty officer then drew a firearm and fired at Wilks. Authorities report Wilks also discharged a weapon during the exchange. The officer subsequently shot and killed Wilks. The listed cause of death is gunshot. The investigation remains pending.
