Roundup Linked to Cancer
Monsanto is an agricultural and biochemical manufacturer that specializes in producing herbicides. These chemicals combat weeds, regulate plant growth and are used everywhere from front lawns to commercial farms. For Monsanto, Roundup is the manufacturers most popular herbicide.
The main ingredient is Roundup is glyphosate, a recognized carcinogen. Prolonged exposure to glyphosate has been linked to a significant increase of risk in users developing cancer.
In fact, the International Agency for Research on Cancer recently categorized glyphosate as a Group 2A substance, meaning that it is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
A 2019 scientific study provided further legitimacy to this claim when it was found that exposure to glyphosate did raise the risk of cancer of users by 41%.
More specifically, the glyphosate in Roundup has been particularly linked to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a type of cancer that originates in the lymphatic system- the foundation of the body’s immune system. Cancers like non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that attack the immune system compromise a person’s ability to fight off infections, and can pose a fatal threat to people who suffer from it.
Complications from Roundup-Induced Cancers
Often, victims of this type of cancer must undergo extensive treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and stem cell therapy. While these treatments can be effective, they often cause further health complications as well. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma sufferers in particular often face an increased risk for the following complications and conditions:
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Lung disease
- Thyroid disease
- Cataracts
- Kidney disease
Victims who develop cancer and other related health complications after prolonged exposure to Roundup have the opportunity to learn if they can file a lawsuit against Monsanto to hold the manufacturer responsible. Contact us today for a free case evaluation if you believe your cancer diagnosis is linked to Roundup as you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, pain, and suffering.
Monsanto’s Responsibility to Victims
All manufacturers have a legal responsibility to ensure their products do not cause undue harm to their consumers. Additionally, manufacturers must warn consumers of any known dangerous effects that could result from one of their products.
Therefore, Monsanto’s failure to protect its customers from Roundup’s potentially dangerous side effects qualifies as a form of negligence.
Those who develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or other health complications because of Monsanto’s negligent misconduct should not have to pay burdensome medical bills out-of-pocket without compensation.
Our Roundup lawyers can help sick or injured victims file a legal claim against Monsanto for compensation related to their medical bills and other damages. Lawsuits across the country are forming against Monsanto to hold this company responsible for the damage it has done to its customers, farm workers, and also other consumers.

On June 24, 2020 Bayer announced their agreement to settle thousands of current U.S. lawsuits over Roundup for a total of $10.9 billion. Months after the June announcement, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria criticized Monsanto for its failure to finalize these settlements and gave Bayer’s lawyers until November 2, 2020 finalize the details.
Once settled, the 2020 U.S. Roundup resolution brought closure to approximately 75% of the Roundup litigation at the time that involved approximately 125,000 filed and unfiled claims. As of March 2024, Bayer still faces approximately 4,250 claims from plaintiffs.
