Chris Liem Huynh Shot and Killed by Galveston Police After Pursuit

Galveston, Texas — October 2, 2025: Authorities identified Chris Liem Huynh, age 44, as the man shot and killed by officers with the Galveston Police Department following a pursuit and standoff near 100 Seawolf Park Boulevard on Pelican Island.

According to investigators, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for an unspecified reason. Huynh reportedly refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit that ended near the Seawolf Park area. Police say that after stopping, Huynh exited his vehicle and fired shots in the direction of officers before taking cover.

Officers attempted to negotiate with Huynh for several minutes. Police allege that Huynh later turned his weapon toward officers, prompting them to open fire and fatally shoot him. No officers were injured during the incident.

The incident remains under a pending investigation. The Texas Rangers are assisting the Galveston Police Department in reviewing the shooting, and body-worn camera footage will be evaluated as part of the ongoing inquiry.
