Decatur, IL. – A 6-year-old child died after being struck by a car on Thursday morning in Decatur.
According to the Decatur Police Department, the accident happened around 7:21 a.m. at the intersection of Oakland and Packard Streets.
The boy was attempting to cross Oakland Avenue to reach a school bus stop when he was hit by a southbound 2024 Nissan Rogue.
The boy was transported to the hospital where he later died.
The school bus driver, a 41-year-old Decatur resident, was unhurt.
Police say there were no indications that the driver was under the influence.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
