Sebring, FL – The authorities have identified two LP students who were killed following a major rollover traffic collision on US-27 in Sebring Friday night.
The victims were identified as 18-year-old Bo Ward and 17-year-old Kaidence Ruelas. Both teens were seniors at Lake Placid High School.
According to FHP, the deadly crash happened at 9:50 p.m. Friday, February 7 in the southbound lanes of U.S. 27 at Lake Josephine Drive.
Bo Ward was driving a pickup southbound in the inside lane while a sedan carrying four teens was also traveling southbound in the outside lane.
FHP said the sedan driver, a 17-year-old Sebring male, tried to change lanes and collided with Ward’s truck.
The impact pushed the truck off the road, into the median, where it rolled several times, ejecting Ward and Ruelas.
Ward was transported to a local hospital via ambulance while Ruelas was airlifted via Helicopter to a regional hospital. Unfortunately, both teens died from their injuries.
The driver of the sedan and his three passengers – a 17-year-old Sebring boy, a 16-year-old Sebring girl, and a 15-year-old girl from Lake Wales, were not injured in the incident.
FHP said Ward and Ruelas were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The teens in the sedan were all wearing seatbelts.

The accident happened on US-27 near Lake Josephine Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
