Anthony Michael Dean Shot and Killed by Garland County Deputy After Report of Disorderly Person

Hot Springs, Arkansas — October 7, 2025: Authorities identified Anthony Michael Dean, age 34, as the man shot and killed by a deputy with the Garland County Sheriff’s Office following a disturbance report near the 100 block of Ebony Way.

According to law enforcement, deputies were dispatched in response to a report of a disorderly person. When officers arrived, they encountered Dean, who was reportedly shirtless and carrying a shovel. Authorities allege that Dean approached the deputy aggressively while holding the shovel, prompting the deputy to open fire and fatally shoot him.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but Dean was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. No deputies were injured. The shooting remains under a pending investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
