Hillside IL – The person who was killed by a wrong-way driver on the Eisenhower Expressway in Hillside early Sunday has been identified as 61–year-old Andy Orozco from Chicago.

According to the Illinois State Police, a black Chevrolet truck, operated by a 42-year-old Carpentersville man, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-290 near Wolf Road when it collided with an eastbound 2006 silver Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Orozco.

The Chevrolet then crashed into a 2024 white Jeep Wagoneer operated by a 60-year-old Oswego man, as per the State police.

Authorities said a 1987 red Mazda RX7, operated by a 24-year-old man from Broadview was also struck in the collision and the impact caused it to crash into a concrete barrier.

Orozco was transported to a hospital where he died.

According to the police, the wrong-way driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The Jeep driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

The fourth driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened around 4:15 a.m. on the Eisenhower Expressway at Wolf Road in Hillside.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision. The events leading up to the accident were not immediately determined.
